Electrical continuity

Okay, I tried to figure out if my knock sensor is dead this weekend.
I got the 0304, used to get the 0303 w/it. went away.
the 02 sensor reads out of specs, resistance-wise.

my question is this...Chilton's says the ks should have continuity when checking from terminal to ground.

does that mean that there should be NO resistance...?
i hope so...

Main Entry: con·ti·nu·i·ty
Pronunciation: "kän-t&n-'ü-&-tE, -'yü-
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -ties
Date: 15th century
1 a : uninterrupted connection, succession, or union b : uninterrupted duration or continuation especially without essential change

Not trying to be a smartazz, but yeah it means realitively low or no resistance between the two points.

Hey, you could tell me to go f' myself as long as I find
out that I don't need a new knock sensor...which I guess I
just did.

Some guy on the forum told me there should be resistance,
hence the confusion.

Dictionaries rock!

According to the '99 FSM, the resistance between terminal 1 and ground should be 500K - 620K ohms.

Also, you should be reading 2.0-3.0 volts on terminal number 64 on the ECM with the engine idling.

Now I'm really confused.
If the manual says 'continuity should be present' then why would there be any resistance. This is for a '95 (if that matters).
I'll check the voltage.

Continuity does not mean zero ohms it means that there is a connection. No continuity would read in the mega-ohms.

Sorry to make people repeat themselves...
So does this mean I should see between 500-620Kohms and if not,
my knock sensor is fault?

Terminal 64 on the main connector to the ECM. I'm not sure, but I suspect that the plastic connector has very small numbers moulded into it.

I have not thoroughly researched the FSM but if you have an e-mail address that can accept a 1.7MB file, I will send you the pertinent Acrobat file. Send your addy to tkvezina@winkinc.com before 5:00 CST or tkvezina@***.net after 5:00.
