Update on Emma's Heart Transplant

Welp, the new engines sitting at the shop, went by today and checked on her. Good condition, has harnesses, coils, etc. The remaining oil that was left when it was drained is clean looking on the dipstick, only thing that should need to be done is replace the Auto tranny bushing with the bearing for the 5-speed. Cool thing is my mechanic said I could have the old engine if I wanted it. I have no room for it, but I am snagging the old intake and throttle body, (the new one has both) and I might play around with port and polishing, just because I can, lol
New clutch should be in later this week, and he's gonna start on her next week. I forgot how much I miss driving the Max. She looks so sad just sitting there, lifeless. I sat down in the drivers seat and started to tear up alittle. We've had so many good times together, I hate to see her in pain. The 94 Mazda Protege' of my parents that they're letting me borrow sux ***. Zoom zoom my azz in this thing. weighs 400 lbs MORE than the 95 GXE and has alot less power and no torque. Once I get it back, I'm going to dteail her and I'm thinking about new upolstery. We shall see......

Hope it gets done fast. The mechanic doesn't have to wait for the clutch parts to start installing the motor. I'd actually prefer him to install them one at a time(if going in from the top) to prevent the engine/tranny from banging on everything(ie.. brake/clutch/radiator/PS lines/ABS lines etc..) This is the way I've always done it.

Well, I'm in no hurry to get it back, since I won't be able to pay for the work until mid April. Otherwise, I'd be rushing him for it. But I agree with what you're saying as far as doing the install, but since he's been a Nissan Mechanic for about 15 years, I stopped questioning how he does things along time ago. He's not screwed me over yet. (knock on wood)

Just curious how much was the new engine? How much estimate would the engine cost of being dropped in. My friend and I were at a junkyard and I saw a engine sitting covered up and it was a 98 w/ 38k on it. We asked the guy how much he said 750- for it I was like that doesn't seem to bad for just the engine as the rest of the car's wiring could be used right since its the same engine? Not sure I know more about swapping honda motors h/f/b series etc. but those are completely different engines into a different car so wiring harness is required and ecu etc. I was telling him get it and boost it or have it built up, his current motor has about 110k or so on it.

I got it online with 41k for $275 with a 3 mo warranty, plus $100 for shipping.

THere are small issues with doing a swap with the Max, but pretty minor ones. They are all the same engine, and quite a few people on here have done it.
