Help - ABS Sensor stuck
Help - ABS Sensor stuck
I have to replace the front right hub and I noticed that my abs sensor is frozen in there (I tried to remove it before..). After taking out the bolt, it won't budge. I even cracked the plastic casing before i realized it was plastic
. How do I remove it? I really don't want to pay $100 for a new sensor

Well, I checked the '99 FSM and there isn't a whole lot of info there on removing the sensor. It has a diagram of the location, a torque spec for the bolt (13-17 ft/lbs) and the following text:
"Removal and installation
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage sensor edge and sensor rotor teeth. When removing the front or rear wheel hub assembly, first remove the ABS wheel sensor from the assembly. Failure to do so may result in damage to the sensor wires making the sensor inoperative."
From the drawing, it looks like you could remove one bolt and then gently pry the plastic sensor out with a small screwdriver. Wedge the screwdriver in between the sensor and the hub mount. If you broke the housing, you may need replace it. At the very least, glue it back together to keep water and road grime out.

. Also, the abs sensors changed after 96 so getting a used one could be difficult.
