I'm trying to solve a very peculiar problem on my sister's 1995 SE. This problem has occurred for months now and seems to slowly get worse. When you turn the key to start the car, nothing happens on the first and sometimes the second and sometimes up to 7 or more tries.

We had the problem addressed at Nissan and they said it was the ignition. We then had the starter replaced. The problem is still prevalent and I'm not sure what else it could be. A mechanic mentioned something about a possible actuator.

I wish the search feature was up and running, as I am very curious as to whether others have had similar problems. I have the car in the shop tomorrow, so if you have any ideas, let me know.

i had a problem with the starter in my 95, i had it replaced by the dealer, about a month later i had the problems again. took it back and they replaced my alarm, and that solved the problem (i had an aftermarket alarm installed by them)
