Should I pick up the phone now and order a JWT ECU?

Do you guys think JWT will come out with a 97+ specific ECU by this summer? Do you think GForce will develop a ECU with a raised limiter any time soon? Should I bother waiting?

Soooo.. As the 3 people who voted on my poll advised me to do. I picked up the phone and ordered the ECU via Cattman. =) I just have to send my ECU out to him tomorrow. 3 weeks is the projected time.

Sure does. What do the available ones sell for though?

I'm probably wrong, but I want to say ~$600.

You can use a 95-96 ECU in a 97-98, just not a 99.

JWT will never come out with a 97-99 ECU I guarantee it, there's not enough market to justify the trouble of developing it, and you can use 95-96 in 97-98 anyways, 99 owners are just screwed.

5-6 weeks is more realistic. Both Neal and I sent our ECUs to JWT and we didn't get them back until 5 weeks later and we didn't use a middleman.

Would it be a better idea to buy another ECU that is the same year as your car and send that one in? Or does it have to be your exact ECU?

This way you aren't stranded for 5 weeks with no car.

Sigh! I figured. That's okay. I'm going to send a spare ECU so I can still use my car. VI is still sitting in my room because I'm waiting for the EGR gasket from courtesy. Maybe I'll just slap it all in at once.

ECU was 560 dollars from Cattman.

That's what I did. When I sell my parts (assuming I don't sell the car with everything on it), I'll be able to sell my MEVI and JWT ECU together. I expect to get back nearly all of the $1200 I spent on the MEVI/ECU combo because it's pretty rare and HIGHLY sought after.

I believe the 99 ECU uses a different harness, similar to the 2000-2001 maxs.

Does anyone know if the 2000-2001 and the 2002-2003 ECUs are similar at all? I'm guessing not because different motors, but if so, maybe 99s could use a 02/03 ECU, if one is ever developed for the Z.

That might be an option but I doubt it. For hardcore guys that REALLY want an ECU for their 99, you could go with a standalne engine management system. You could get one for about $900 for the cheaper systems, but then you have to start tuning.
