What are the first things I should do?
What are the first things I should do?
I just got my Maxima yesterday and I'm wondering what things are worthwhile doing? My plans so far are to change the spark plugs, K&N filter, synthetic oil change, change to some better headlight and fog light bulbs and eventually get the clear turn signals for the front and red/clear for the back.
Has anyone tried just using the K&N drop-in filter?
What spark plugs work best? I figured NGK platinums, is this good?
Synthetic oil...I was gonna use Mobil1 5W30.
And recommendations for headlights and fog light bulbs? What type are they (like H4, 9007?!?)?

By the time you've bought a K&N drop in, you could have bought a cone filter and made a home made intake.
Go for a cheap FSTB from Ebay.
Bulbs - I have Cuzo 9004 hyperwhite headlight bulbs from racinglab and they are pretty white - blue at night.
What year is our Max?
You may also want to do the clearnace light mod to make your corner clearance lights brighter
I use Mobil1 5W30 synthetic - seems to work pretty well. Haven't had an analysis done, so it's hard to tell.
Spark plugs - stick with the NGK PFR5G-11

wheezy: I'll check it out.
First thing you should do:
Read the 4th Gen FAQ, all of it.
Second thing you should do:
Go to AutoZone and buy the Haynes Service Manual for the car. It's the best $14 you will spend.
