gas remaining after light comes on?

My 'low fuel indicator' light came on this morning and I just got back from filling the tank. It only took 15.5 gallons so I'm wondering if everyone else's light comes on with about 3 gallons in the tank? All I get from the manual is that the light comes on when fuel is low, no exact level. Just wondering so I know how far I can push it, thanks.

"Where's the needle now Kramer?"
"It broke off a while ago man."

When my gas light comes on, I have 2.5 - 3.0 gallons remaining.

I've filled up with 16.7 gallons before...pretty empty. Believe me, it goes beneath the E line.

OK, thanks for the feedback guys. Sounds like it can be anywhere from 1.5 - 3 gallons in there when the light comes on. Good to know.

And while we're talking about gas, I spent 1.89/gallon today in Quincy, MA. Yikes. I won't complain though, I know it's higher out west.

Haha, you guys are funny. I've never pushed it to that level, but it's good to know that I've got a few miles even after the fuel light comes on...

Mine begins to flicker and is empty about 2 miles later. I can also fill way above the "F" on the gauge. Maybe it needs to be adjusted.

We have a 18.5g tank, and usually the rule of thumb for mostmis-sized passenger cars is 2 gallons after any indicator is employed.

Tell me about it, I just put in 13 gallons @ $2.35 Also in CA.

As for the gas left after the light is on, I was told about 2 gallons.
