Have any MEVI owners had a problem with HARLAN switch?

I ordered a switch from them like 2-1/2 weeks ago and I have only received an email that says go here for your info on your purchase then you go there and that is under construction. So I emailed the Harlan guy like 4 times now and he has not responded once. I'm really getting irritated. I finally got all the things I need but I can't do anything until I get that switch.

Hopefully it will work when you get it. Mine never did.

What did you do for your switch then?

Yours didn't work at all? I think that's the first one I've ever heard of failing on all the boards I read (Maxima.org, CamaroZ28, LS1.com, ClubSi, Corral).

You can wire the MEVI to work without the switch, but you have to it with a toggle switch and hit the switch manually. I ran mine that way for a week when I didn't have my RPM switch. That's until I realized I could wire my shiftlight as a RPM switch.

Harlan must like me. I have 2 rpm switches which were ordered at separate times, and arrived within a week and a half. I also recently ordered a window switch and it came in the same time period (I haven't put it in the car yet though). I have had 0 problems with my Harlans other than they cannot be wired to the ECU on '99s. Wiring to the coil is the way to go, while keeping the Harlans in the car.

Mine arrived in 3 weeks, including travel all the way to Aust. Has worked perfectly since day one.

I hooked it up to the horn. It works though. I have it where my field controller beeps at 5000rpm. then I just press the corner of the horn with my thumb. Its also allowed me to see that when I hit the nitrous its best to switch the butterfly's open at any RPM.

I think I got my switch about the same time that alot of other people had problems. Something about a bad batch.

Dave, I thought you had to send yours back to harlan?

This still sucks though. I hate when people don't respond to emails. It's the most irritating thing ever. I hope I get a switch otherwise I'll really be ****ed.

What exactly do you mean by that? I could see how nitrous would affect the optimal switchover, but it seems like one rpm would be better than any arbitrary rpm.

You'll be lucky to get any response. I've never heard anyone get "screwed over" by him.

Yes I sent mine back, but it was a mistake on my part. I had the RPM switch wired to a relay which doesn't work well at all. With the relay, it flaked out all the time. Without the relay, it flakes out very rarely.

It would seem that way. At any rpm i'm spraying, as soon as I activate the VI I can definitely feel the power increase. Maybe its better nitrous distribution? If anyone has nitrous and the VI you should hook up a switch inside the car to see what I'm talking about.

That's very interesting. I know nitrous changes the compression of the engine, but it didn't cross my mind that it might change the optimal VI activation point. When you spray you are adding more than what the MAF sees, so I'll have to experiment once I get my nitrous kit installed.
