is this true about tinting a sunroof?

i have heard of quite a few people on here that have had their sunroof's tinted. well it seems like every place i call down here in New Orleans says that they cannot do it because of the fact that when they apply the heat to the tint. it cracks the sunroof. anyone know if this is true?? thanks.

If they aren't careful, yes it MAY crack.

Some have also said that the tint builds up heat when in the sun which MAY also crack the sunroof. I've never seen it happen. I have dark tint on mine for over 5 years now... no problems so far, although I park mostly under shaded areas. If you are worried about it, you could leave your sunroof slightly open/tilted to let out the hot air. Most of us do anyways on hot days.

I've been wanting to tint my sunroof for a couple of months now. I went to a few places and they told me the same story, that they wouldn't tint my sunroof because it would crack due to the amount of heat and stuff. It makes sense, but what if you leave your lid open (the sliding part inside the car), so that the sunlight can pass throughout the car, just like the normal windows. Leaving your sunroof tilted open just a little bit sounds like a good idea, just hope I dont forget its open, especially when it rains. I found a shop that will tint anything as long as you pay them LoL, and also have a friend who knows someone who will do it for cheap. Most new cars nowadays have tinted sunroof's, that or they either have dark glass.

I got windows tinted 3 years ago here in HOT a$$ Austin TX and they never mentioned anything like that. In fact at first I was going to leave the sunroof untinted but they ask if I wanted it done. They ended up doing it for like another 20 bucks. I usually leave the windows craked a little anyway. I'll have to keep that cracking thing in mind though.
