Engine oil change

I remembered someone said, you can have oil change done without lifting your car. Something like, turn your wheel all the way (Right or Left) and open up the right (black) plastic cover behind the right wheel. I took a look at it.. There is one metal bolt, and two plastic bolts which looks like snap-on type.. Is this right place to starts?
Can someone please help me with my first engine oil changing experience? I used to do my old 240SX by myself, but not in Maxima.
Thanks

PS: Sorry, I don't access to search function

turn the wheel all the way to the right. remove the oil cap on the engine under the hood.

climb under the car you will see the 14 mm drain bolt. Pull that and have it drain into the pan.

5 mins later. remove the filter. if you are under the car by the pass wheel well you will see the filter.

once its done draining.. throw a quart of oil in the engine.

oil the tip of the new filter. install new filter. only hand tighten your filter.

re-install drain bolt... refil car with 4 1/4 quarts of oil .. run engine and check for leaks

So I guess you do have to lift the car with jack..right?
and you have to remove that plastic cover behind the wheel?

only if your car is lowered 2 inches or more..

just turn the wheel to the right.. and climb under the car... you will see how easy everything is to reach.

Thanks..
Actually, I had that info in prior to posting this message.
But I still can't figure out removing filter.. I was able to look at drain bolt, and it can be done without lifting car and removing plastic cover..
How da heck do you guy reach those filter without removing cover?
I didn't attempt to remove those cover yet because I am afraid of doing overwork.. There were two bolts on cover (one right behind the wheel, and other one toward front-end). Mine is 97 in case there are some difference with this covers..
Sorry about my stupidity with this matter..

Good God man, just remove the plastic cover then. Two metal bolts + two plastic fasteners. Comes right out.

Replace the copper gasket on the drain plug too while you're at it. They're like 25 cents from the stealership.

Before you remove the filter, pack the area underneath it with paper towels 'cause it's gonna leak all over. It'll make cleanup easier.

Ya i never had to jackup the car, the biggest problem for me is unscrewing the oil filer.

you don't really need to remove that plastic cover. as long as you locate the oil filter, you can just bend the damn cover out of the way and the filter should come out just fine
