Which Tranny Cooler

I am now ready to add a tranny cooler to my auto(60000). I have looked at hayden and B&M and was wondering what everyones experiences have been with these two brands. What size cooler did you go with and how did you mount it(i dont want to use zip ties)possibly brackets?

any help is greatly appreciated,
thanks

I've always heard the hayden is a better product. I'm gonna get one soon.

I use to run a Haydens 403X (I believe that was the model number - its been so long!) tranny cooler. It iwll help a lot during the warmer weather. You might want to take it off for winter. I left mine on since I never did short/city driving with the Max.

Remember, in the winter, running a tranny cooler make actually harm your transmission if you do very short trips. Your transmission might not get up to normal operating temp since people mount it in front of the radiator. This is cold winter weather blowing on the cooler.

The B&M is sturdier and better built than the fin and tube type coolers. It also has a built-in temperature by-pass that just returns cold fluid to the transmission so it can be of any size and used in any weather and still not degrade performance. I use a 24000 gvw one and even in -40 weather it still works fine.

It is also much more difficult to damage.

Cheapest I found was at www.bulkpart.com $36 shipped for a Hayden 1402 and 4 extra feet of hose. Fast shipping too.

And no, I have no ties to this company other than paying them for my tranny cooler.

I've done alot of research on tranny coolers and it seems th B&M comes out on top w/ the sturdier contruction and bypass valve.

GOTO www.jegs.com

For those of you who have the B&M, can anyone provide a picture of where you mounted it?

Thanks all,
John

I have the smallest B&M cooler and it has been fantastic. Just make sure you get some good quality hose and hose clamps (the ones they supply are not enough). You will have to add approximately 1 qt of extra fluid after installing the cooler. Good luck!
