I was just browsing through edmunds site and i came across Infinity J30 (1997) it was listed that it has 210 Hp and around 196 TQ
The question is : is this the same engine as in Maxima/I30 ,
and if is where is the additional 20Hp come from ?

The J30 had the VG motor from the 3rd gen Maximas, and I think also the non-TT 300Zxs.

Comparing to the 4th gen VQ, it had more HP, but less TQ (VQ has maximum of 205 ft-lbs)

The J30 engine is the 300ZX NA engine. I believe the chassis is the same as the 300zx also. I believe the engine code is VG30DE. Not to be confused with the VG30DE that came in the 3rd gen maximas.

I thought the J30 was the Infinity version of the Altima? It is a 4-door and has that same sloped @ss the Altima has. But then again, it is RWD.

 

J30 came with the 300z motor. dohc iron block 4 valve heads. VG30DE

3-gens came in two flavors. VG30E sohc 2 valve heads. and VE30DE. dohc 4 valve heads(but different than the 300z na motor. it only came in the 3-gen 92-94SE versions)
