Calling Out All AUTO MAX....

May I have Your attention please?
May I have Your attention please?
Will The guys with an Automatic Max Please stand up?
I repeat.
Will The guys with an Automatic Max Please stand up?
Were Gonna have a problem here...

Ok, here goes. Where do you guys shift 1-2? and at what RPM do you guys brake torque?

Say I Brake torque at 1500rpm and Shift from 1-2 at 6200rpm..How would I do in a 1/4mile?

And if I had a Y-Pipe?
And if I had a Cop Chasing me?
And if I was drinking pop out of a nissan cup?
...

The things is that there is no 1/4 drags here. so I just want estimations of time here...

i jus leave it in D and brake torque till bout 16-1700 rpm. when u floor it like u do when ur racing, the tranny should top out high in each gear on its own

sheesh, get to the point man.

That sounds about right... experiment with torqueing it to 1800,2000,2200,2500,2874, whatever... there are a lot of dependencies that will make a certain RPM right for someone else, but maybe not you. You should prolly be able to pull a 16 sec 1/4.

And if I had a Y-Pipe?
No change in driving, but you may pull a 15.8.
And if I had a Cop Chasing me?
Pull over.
And if I was drinking pop out of a nissan cup?
Coke or Dr. Pepper?

Its when you hold the brake with your left foot and Rais the RPM With the gas..When you launch you let go of the brake and floor the gas

If you leave it in drive she'll go to 6k. Try brake trqing @ 1200 rpms, and as you take your foot off the brake stomp on the gas at the same time, symetrically. You don't have a MEVI, so, shifting at the red won't do much good. If you're car is tip top shape, good k.s the works, and a y-pipe, you may be lucky and pull mid 15.

this is the best way to do it unless ur modded, after mods u have to learn where the car stops producing power an shift then on ur auto u will know when u are in the correct shifting point bc ur power will never feel like its dropping off

Anything over 1200 rpms, and the engine sorta bogs down because the engine is spinning faster than it should because you are at a dead stop, so therefore your tires have to catch up to the engine, this way at 1200, there is minimal amount of catch up or "lag" catch my drift?

Depends on the mood the car is in, and this guy has a GLE, heaviest of em all, then theres elevation, but this is all all newb stuff anyway. Most guys that have been here for a while have seen this type of post what seems like thousands of times.

Jut in ref to the altitude.. los alamos is about 8 or 9 thousand feet up. He'll be in the 16's on a good day. Hey nmexmax, just point it down the mountain, you'll be in the 14's in no time.

Los Alamos is 7400' ft up, and going down the hill towards Espanola, where I live is hard enough at 80, (too many freakin S turns)

Sometimes I wish I had a 5spd - they seem to be more that just a little bit faster...but then again I do like not having to worry about shifting when my girl's in the car

Yeah, but that is a great road, especially after they re-paved it a few years ago. I used to tear that highway up on my zx9-r. Those big high speed sweepers are great. Btw why do you care about 1/4 mile? The only straight quarter in los alamos is the airport.

Yup you're right, I was just trying to give ZeRo some advice, yeah, someitmes I pretend I'm racing the planes leaving the airport. But I never win....
