For a while I noticed that my airconditioner/heater doesn't turn off even when the screen is off(not lighed up). Than when I turn it on again, it always points at the feet. Is that a problem or do all GLE maximas have that built in function?

Also, what can I do to get a better gas millage?

The blower should be off obviously if you turn it off... prob need a new control unit.

You need to commute downhill both ways to get better mileage. If not then you could do a basic tuneup. Clean the TB, change the air/fuel filters, make sure you've got the right viscosity oil like 5w30.... etc.... basic stuff.... spark plugs... Tire pressures...

And the way you drive is probably the biggest variable of all. I can get 14mpg if I beat on it....

Are you sure that it's not off? With the climate control system, you will still get fresh air flow even if it is off. The only way to shut it off is to turn on the recirculate button.
