paint job dilemma

Ok yesterday when I went to check on my car (they said they would suppoesdly be done yesterday too), they had just gotten started on my car, just covering up a dent with like bondo stuff. And he told me he would paint it that day (I was there at 6pm, yeah right).

My husband calls today to see if the car is ready and he says: "I cant work on it, because it's raining, it will be done tomorrow."
What the heck does that mean...so if it rains for a month will he make no money? Do you guys think he intends to paint my car outside?? Because when I dropped by yesterday and saw him working on the car, he was working on it outside. He says he has an oven too, but I didnt see one. The shop has tooons of car there, and I didnt see much room for him to work on the car inside. If he intends to paint my car outside (thus that's why he cant work on it when it rains), then I would assume this is unprofessional and I should yank my car asap right?

I would also be curious to know why it raining would have anything to do with painting your car. I would just ask them.

I think the rain has to do with the dry time or how the paint goes on b/c moisture in the air affects the paint... not sure though

I always thought Bondo was a filler for holes and such. If there is a dent, aren't they suppossed to cut out the dent and weld a new piece of metal on there? Sand it down smooth and paint it? Man, I am trying to remember how mine was done....

Suspect excuse. Rain might prolong the drying time for the paint a bit, but it shouldn't prevent him from working. Examine his work carefully when it's done if it's too late to pull your ride out of there. Good luck.

Humidity can affect the finish of the paint. High humidity can turn the clearcoat milky.

this is correct. The rain causes to much moisture in the air and affects how the clear will dry. When they say "oven", they mean a paint booth(otherwise known as baking the paint/clear). If he paints your car and has no where to put it inside then the water sitting on the freshly painted car will make permanent water marks in the clear.Without going to technical, when mixing the clear, there are different ways of mixing according to the temp,humidity,moisture,etc...

also, "bondo" or the correct term would be body filler is used just as the name is read. Dents are pulled out accordingly and then body filler is used to fill in then sanded to look original. If a dent is to great or to large then the panel would have to be replaced.
