You are boosted too, whats your 60'?

There isn't a Maxima on here that has run less that a 2 second 60' without boost.

I take that back Neal ran a 1.99, so there is one exception to every rule.

talking auto's and manuals. I could write up 10 pages on this arguement easily. But to just prove a point to every1 that THINKS all sticks are faster, here this. In rail cars do u ever see a stick... um no... and take my dads 440 coronet R/T auto, race and auto stock r/t vs a stick r/t, he blows the doors off them every time. not to burst ne ones bubble, but if you don't believe me look it up sticks are not alwyas faster than autos, period.

you don't need high horsepower to get 1.8 with slicks

You are correct and im not gonna argue with that statment, but the low-end torque that nitrous dishes out does help alot. Uve ran nitrous be4 havnt you? You know what I mean then, nitrous produces gobs of torque in the low end which will blast a car off the line.

You need more then a n/a 3.0 DOHC V6 4spd auto with a tall first gear don't you? The way my old auto accelerated, it would never get a 1.8 on slicks.

there comes a plateau of power...where auto is indeed faster than manual. however until you reach that amount of power, manual is the way to go. with more aggressive gearing and less drivetrain loss, it is more efficient to a certain extent. once you have so much power than that its difficult to get traction, the stability and consistency of auto is probably better.

this is more associated towards powerful domestic dragsters than weak imports. cars like the max that have a lack of power need the extra bit of power from gearing and less drivetrain loss that the manual transmission offers.

so you're particular situation isn't really relevant when looking at maxima's. i think the fastest max (mardigras) just got an 11.9 or something close to that and he's stick. auto is probably the way to go with sub 10 second cars.

Oh yes you do. I run 1.8 with spray and 2.2-2.3 without both with slicks.

Thats the difference between 15.4 N/A and 13.1 with spray. I think that would classify as a littler higher HP.

You are a fool. I dunno tho my last time out runnin on the bottle i got a 2.2 60ft with slicks, i run a 100 shot. So i dunno i guess it's kinda the way a car is setup also. Jim did you lighten up your car taken seats out and stuff? That would prolly help with a better 60ft i would assume. Brian

the only person us manuals need to be worried about as far as NA goes is 96sleeper...he ran (3) 14.4s in a row last time he was at the track.

Rare occasion dare I say I ran a 2.3 60ft with a 15.5 last time at the track with my auto 01 but that was on just normal Yoko tires. If u dont have enough power to burn the tires up in 1st then slicks arnt going to help much. Thats why a N/A 3.5 benafits from the use of slicks.

No, I ran full interior last year and no lightening except spare tire and jack. Where I race you have to have a passenger seat.

This year I am going to do lightening on my 95 I just got. Already working on it. I want a 1.7 this year.

You are right though, the setup makes a big difference, I block the rear, which is good for about .2 in the 60' time.

AUTO VS. MANUAL

AUTO OWNER ...BUT I THINK ITS PRETTY OBVIOUS THAT THE MANUAL IS A FAR BETTER REACTOR UP FRONT...PLUS WITH AT LEAST SOME MODS...
THE AUTO HAS FLAWS HERE AND THERE MAINLY PICK UP...UNLESS OF COURSE YOU GOT A S/C...BUT HEY THATS MY OPINION

I think anyone should be able to run sub 60' times with a 5 speed. Try that with an auto the task is just a little more difficult.

What I am trying to get across is that you do not need a high stall torque convertor to run good 60' times, as a matter of fact I am not sure it would help at all.

Someone did mention the drop resistor mod, it does help especially when you get into the 13's. The faster you get the more it helps.

Mobiltek.com. you will have to send in your torque converter.

Mobiltek.com sells multimedia products. Please don't send anyone to the other Mobiltek site, we have had enough people on here lose their money.

Read the dealership forum if you need any info on their service record.

i know.. i was meerly letting Crack Mack settle down because he got a little too excited with the fact of me being wrong. and like i said.. with a 5spd you can pull 1.8 60fts with just bolt on's.

i owned both. my old 96 se was auto and my 99 is a 5 speed. the 5 speed is just so much better. i felt the difference in drivig. and im comparing this to both being stock. not with my current mods.

Auto vs. Manual

I have both 5sp(90) and auto(99) maximas. I sometimes miss the manual shifting (like when im reading this forum) but love the way i can relax in my newer auto max. It just suits the car better to have it in auto. THATS JUST MY OPINION. and thats why i bought it that way.

Heh, i was just reading and noticing i didnt have the 24 valve 3.0 in the older max. The issue wasnt power it was the feeling of the car.

everytime people asked me if they should buy an Accord, Camry or Maxima..i said go test drive a 5spd one and see..
