QUIT MAKING ME MISS MY 5SPD DAMMIT
I am in NO WAY arguing with the fact that a manual maxima is more fun to drive and most definatly more resposive the the throttle dept. but i bought my max cause its of its dependabilty and smooth ride, and the auto trans matches what i desire in this car more. Ive owned mostly manuals so far but love my auto max and only regret it because of a few tenths ina quarter. If i were to buy a manual it would have 2 doors.

I havent driven a DOHC in 5spd. but im sure you are right. Nissan makes one hell of a car and the manual just makes it quicker.

DOHC V6 5-speed. BIG difference from a 4 banger DOHC.

This cannot be compared to the VQ by any means.

auto vs manual

OK so the verdict is final auto wins.

I so wish there was some 5spd maximas around to compare, all these hondas and mitsubishi around are making me arrogant.

Auto's suck, they are slow in the 1/4 and have really lousy 60' times.

no one said the VQ Auto sucked, we just said the fun factor on a VQ 5spd is through the roof

I can play with myself when driving and have even more fun, not only can you move the stick around you feel the results even more.

Maybe you stick guys are lacking something in your lives you are trying to compensate for that the auto owners already have.

PS If Matt had an auto he would probably be running 10's by now instead of having to work with an antiquated manual transmission.

no one cares who is faster. I could care less if someone had an automatic that was a 1 second faster than my car. The mere excitement i get going through curvy roads, upshifting in straights and downshifting in corners, thats what i want. I like driving a VQ 5spd i could care less who is faster than i am.

wether my ***** is 2 inches or 10 inches, i still prefer driving a stick over an auto.

Jime was being sarcastic when he said what he said about the 1/4 mile and 60' times (obviously). Just take a look at his sig. Dont get me wrong tho, 5-speed is the way to go for the fun factor. Hooray for Captain Obvious!!!

Hitting a perfect heel-and-toe into second as you enter a low speed corner that goes uuuUUUPP into the corner then DDOOwwnn as you exit the corner....downshifting to third to take a highway offramp at 70...hearing the engine SCREAMING as you slam into second at the perfect moment and look over to see the dude your racing falling behind....that's what it's all about.

Auto is for convienence, stick is for the love of driving. I talked to a bunch of guys at a Ferrari shop here and they were saying that even the paddle shifters sucked because you lost the whole experience of driving and having the steering, clutch and shifter all working together perfectly. This whole post is bull**** because there IS no comparison to be made. If you don't know why manual is better for enthusiasts, you've either never driven one or aren't driving it right..period.

Damn you are like 100%right. Thing is there are 2 maximas and talking down apon one of them creates controversy. This issue is a matter of opinion and all opinions should be respected and fairly judged. I felt all those feeling you have experienced in your post and now my goal is convienence so therefore I chose auto. I also must share one experience with you. Passing someone while they shift_into second. I am all about manuals, I owned several and love the experience. Lets not create a civil war between manual and auto maxima owners................................. And they both lived happily ever after.

Geez don't get you nose in a snit, no wonder you get agitated easily, I would too if I only had a 2 inch *****. Now that explains why you like the manual for sure.
