Ignition stuck.. literally... help

yesterday when i tried to start the max it cranked then died like it lacked contact.. i assumed i didn't turn the key all the way so i did it again and it was ok. i drove home and started it about 3 more times that night with no problems.

now i just tried to start it and i can't turn the key.. it goes in, but it won't turn. it just won't turn. what could have gone broke and can your average locksmith fix it?

yes i tried with a spare key so its not that.. nothing seems to be visually damaged either..
