CV boots and strut

I have a '95 max with 78k. My front cv boot is torn. Question is what happens if I don't get it replaced? Also I was told by my mechanic there is a slight leak from the left rear strut. I noticed only a little fluid on the strut. What happens if I don't get that replaced immediately?

the cv will wear out and cause alot of noises and may eventually destroy itself. the struts are ok if worn out if you dont mind having the car bounce up and down all the time. wipe off the fluid off the strut and monitor it from time to time to see if its really a leak

Thanks for the reply! I was quoted for the cv joint. Can I just replace the torn cv boot or should I repalce the cv joint?

my auto teacher gave us an estimated 8 hours from the time its torn to the time it must be replaced. rebuilt axles go for about $90 each so maybe you can order one and just have the shop install it to cut down on labor instead of having them rebuild your cv
