Kelly blue book values for 4th gen maximas...

The KBB private party value of 4th gens seems much lower than what people are selling their maximas for around here. For example...

95 maxima SE 5 speed with 100,000 miles in "Excellent" condition $4,865
96 maxima SE 5 speed with 90,000 miles in "Excellent" condition $5,890
97 maxima SE 5 speed with 80,000 miles in "Excellent" condition
$7,185

These are much lower than what i see in want ads around here. For example a 95 with similar miles will go for more like $6,000, the 96 for $6,500-7,000, and the 97 for $8,000-$9,000. Anyone know why this is? Is KBB just off? Or is it more the fact that people start will a high price in the want ads just to see if they can get it, But will bring it down once you talk about it with them and/or realize that they cant get their asking price?

usually KBB values are for bone stock cars, most of the time some part of the car is usually changed, example, i had to change the whole brake and clutch kits on my car, cost me nearly $2500 total, i'm going to add that to the sale price of my car if i ever sell it, plus as always i'm going to try to get as much as possible for it, so i would crank up the price a little, because chances are the person who is buying it is gonna try to haggle with the price anyway.

Let us know how that goes. You'll be lucky to get 10% of that in resale. You'd be best removing that stuff and going back to stock.

KBB and other references are for banks and insurance companies. The only thing that determines the market value of a car is comparable sale prices in your area. Period.
