Leaking fluid....need help
I got home today and noticed this crap splattered all over my front left rim, but not on the other ones. I took the wheel off and what a mess! Here are some pics but I can't seem to figure out what kind of fluid it is or where its coming from. Can anyone help?
Thanks - Chad

Your outer CV joint boot is split(That black rubber bellows thing). That's it's guts. You need to replace that axle. For cheap you could take the whole thing apart, replace the boot and put it back together but I've found the easiest thing is just replace the whole thing since it's probably been like that for awhile and will die soon. Check the other side too.

Wear and tear causes it. They all go eventually. I would guess an extreme drop like chopped Sprints that puts the axle on more of an angle would accelerate the wear too a wee bit. On my 4x4 Toyoya truck which is lifted with IFS, the boots are always going from the angle....
Get it done soon though. Those joints don't last long without the boot. And joint failure can be an ugly thing.

I do have an extended warantee, but I don't know if it will cover that. I do have Eibach springs on stock struts. I've had them on for maybe 3 weeks now. That couldn't have accelerated it do you think?
One more thing...do you think it is ok to drive around on it for like a day?
Thanks rmb- Chad

The Eibachs might have helped but it depends on how much of a drop. I've got H&R's and it actually lessens the angle a bit. Probably really not much of an issue though.
CV joints are absolutely fully covered under the Nissan extended warranty. They might give you **** about the different springs than stock though.
