Does anyone know where I can get an EVAP control Sensor- Service engine soon light is on in my 98 maxima se, and the code is 74. Also, what is an EVAP canister valve? What exactly does the EVAP control Sensor do? Please help!

I just got this code 0705 and 0903 together. For me, I think it was because my gas cap wasn't completely on. I rescrewed the cap back on, reset the ECU and it's hasn't gone off again today (to and from work)

The Haynes manual says that the vent control valve is closed on the EVAP.

P1448 is the same as 0307- closed loop control fault (right bank)...whatever that means

Are the EVAP Canister Purge Volume Control Valve and the Vent Control Valve the same part? Or are they different? If they are different, where are both parts located on the car? I know that they are behind the drivers side rear wheel...... I know the EVAP Canister is a black box....... Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

*** Guys, I have a friend that works at Nissan, she told me for my trouble codes listed in earlier posts here, that first thing to check is the gas cap! She told me to clean the seal on the gas cap and on the neck of the tank and to reset the ecu...if it comes back on, then its a problem in the EVAP system, bring it in for service...HOWEVER, lastnight i put gas in the car so i cleaned the cap, put it back on and made sure it clicked several times...i didnt reset the ecu...on my way home about 20mins later, the engine light went off...i used to go to same-price-full-serve station and they always put the cap on...guessing it was loose this time...maybe this can be the same remedy for some of you!

EVERYONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM READ THIS!!!
There is a recall on our 4th gens regarding the Evaporator Canister System. That is an emission problem so it is not limited by age of the car or mileage. You can call your local nissan dealer and tell them your VIN #. They will verify that your car has not been serviced for this problem. Your car can only get repaired for this problem once. Unfortunately my car already had this repair and I got the code again so I am S.O.L. But if your car has never had this repair it should be done by Nissan at no cost to you. Again, no limitation on mileage or age of the car, (but I believe it is limited to only 95-99's) but you can only get it done once per car.

EVAP canister and valve are located behind the driver's side rear tire. You will see a black box with several hoses and wires coming from it.
I had these codes and I took off the canister and valve and cleaned the valve thoroughtly. This is the first I have heard of the recall. The valve will get stuck if it is dirty and due to us just coming out of winter, cars in snowy climates are probably dirty as hell underneath.
There are instructions on disassembly in the Haynes manual. It really is not too hard to do just takes a little time.

I just took the valve apart, cleaned it and made sure it was moving freely. I have also found if the gas cap is not put on tightly, the light will come on.

FYI ODB-II P1448
FYI
I've had a P1448 forever and just recently tried fixing it. And I just now had success.
The P1448 for a 97 Maxima is "Evap Canister Purge Flow Control Valve" Unlike most other Evap stuff this is located under the hood. It's just to the compartment side of the manifold. It used 2 12 MM nuts to secure it and has two ~ 1/2" hoses coming from it. It also has a connector with 6 pins/wires. Looking at the receptacle on the valve, you should have 30 ohms between the first and second and second and third pins and 60 ohms between the first and third pins on both (top and bottom)rows. I had an open between the second and third pins on the bottom row. I fixed this by removing the valve assembly and then removed the end (brown end) with the connector. (using 3 phillips screws)Be careful because there is a spring inside the assembly. I then placed a small dab of solder on the inside on the bad pin. Looks like ther was a cold solder joint.
Hopes this helps someone!

Yeah when I was learing about this emissions crap I also tried to remove that valve and also had one bolt just keep twisting. That valve is the vent valve. I got the one bolt loose and rotated the valve and then sprayed with WD-40 and lossened it up, but it wasn't the problem. If you do that, be careful of the O-ring between the valve and canister

Stripped bolts
For those of you whose canister had stripped threads (which seems to be more than a few), I have a few questions...
1. How did you remove the valve?
2. Is the operation of the valve sensitive to both bolts being tight. In other words, could a less-than-tight seal due to a stripped bolt cause the leak?
