AAHHH!! I bent a valve

jcy98maxse and I were racing tonight and in a botched one two shift I hit the fuel cutoff. Well when I let my engine wind down I heard a loud knocking that sped up or slowed down with the rpm. I popped the hood and listened to the valve cover and I beleive I bent a valve. The weird thing is I have the stock 6500rpm limiter and I know plenty of guys that take their cars to 7000rpm with a jwt ecu.

I am going to fix this myself but I would like your input as to where I can get inexpensive quality parts. Also while I have the head off what modding should I consider? Who knows I may have to replace the piston.....that would really frustrate me.

OH SNAP and OUCH!!! I hope you can get that fix relatively inexpensively and that it didn't cause too much engine damage.

A rev limiter cannot slow down the momentum of a motor when it's misshifted.

By botched shift I simply mean I missed second so the engine revved up to the fuel cut off. The engine never spun more than 6500 rpm.

I'll look into how much the cost to repair it is. cbr2, is the head used or new? What condition is it in?

Well I found the culprit. One of the butterfly valves on my MEVI came off and one of the screws holding the valve in place was sucked down the intake runner. It is either holding my valve open leaving a gap between my camshaft and the piston that pushes the valve so every time the lobe goes by it slaps the piston.
The other and much worse option is the screw held my valve open just long enough for my piston to slap the valve and bend it which would cause the same scenario as above to occur only with much more damage. I will find out tomorrow after work.

Who knows how much clearance is between the valve and the head when it opens? Hopefully not much.... I know its the size of the lobe but does anyone have an exact length?
