Monroe Sensatrac rear struts
What do you think of these rear struts? I got a quote of $285 for parts and labor from sears. The only thing they said is there is a additional strut mounting kit. How much do those typically run?

Yeah, I know, thing is they said there is a strut mount that might be needed. I will know tomorrow the price. What gets me is that Monro and Firestone wanted to charge me $450+ for the struts and labor. They were charging me $150+/strut when they only cost ~$50-$70! Sears sounds a lot more reasonable though.

That is pretty high. I just had 4 KYB's put on for $274 + $290 for all of them = $564.
The breakdown for rear struts and labor was $61.69=61.69 + $97.50(labor) = $220.88.
The car I had this done on was a 1995 SE, there were no additional parts necessary.
I also had the mechanic put on H&R sport springs and the car is absolutely awesome now. It finally handles better than my 91 SE

Paying $220 for the rears isn't too bad then. I am being quoted $285 by sear's as long as they don't try to sell me any additional parts. Problem is I will be moving from Erie and want to try to stick to a chain store in case I have any problems later. Paying the $60 more is what that's for I guess... Thanks for the info!

mechanic said he can't find anything wrong but that it might be the struts i had installed. By the way I paid that price and they did not tell me I needed a strut mounting kit. good luck. oh, by the way goodyear was less.

Sears has been offering the lowest price of all of them and I will be moving so that was why I was choosing Sears so the warranty will go along with me. They mentioned that a strut mounting kit maybe necessary. How much did they charge you? Did you have to buy four strut mounts?
Does anyone else have any thoughts on the monroe sensa tracs? I have a '95 gle so the suspension is softer than the se.
