- Hey, go to Nismo.org and click on the link to check out the pictures for the new 350ZX. The car looks like it came straight out of Back to The Future II's soundstage. It's a bit funky, but the good news is that Road and Track reports that the Z will use a tuned 250hp Maxima engine. The 350 moniker makes me assume that they bored it out to 3.5L, so I don't know how well it will rev.
- Check it out. By the way, Nismo.org's Maxima discussion site is a POS. Stick with Maxima.org. ;-)

Not really news Nissan's site has had pics and info up for a couple of weeks now... They're a bit vague, but it does say it will be a 3.5 liter VQ-series v6 with 260+ HP.

Oops

- Oops. That's my mistake. I've been out of the whole Nissan loop for a few weeks due to finals at school and working over Christmas break. Oh well, perhaps some Newbie will go look it over and make my thread worthwhile.
- What do you think about the car? A mere 260(+)hp out of 3.5L doesn't seem all that impressive. They probably kept it in a low state of tune to obey emissions, allow for easy mods, and to remain within the Japanese 276hp limit. I can't wait 'till Stillen gets their hands on one and starts a' tinkerin'.

I just viewed the new 350Z and I must say, that is the ugliest piece of sh*t I've ever seen. You couldn't get me to ride in one of those if you put a gun to my head. The headlights are the exact one's from a 2000 Celica, and the body looks like a damn Audi TT. THe people at Nissan need to put the joints down for a few minutes, and quit sucking on the glass **** for a day and design a new Z car.

I saw a picture of the new Z the other day, and suddenly, it provoked an image in my tiny little mind of a marriage made in heaven: The new 350Z and YOUR WHEELS! Muwhahahaha.

None

- That was a bit harsh. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions on rims.
- But, yeah, I'm not really liking the car. Whatever happened to that prototype/show car that used the 240SX engine? That at least looked like a Z-car. I appreciate the short wheelbase that Nissan used, but what happened to the sugar-scoop headlights, long hood/rounded rear, classic touring car look? Maybe it will look better in person.

What was a bit harsh? My snotty comment about the marriage made in heaven? Or, were you referring to the more saintly comments made by our esteemed CustomMax:

-[The 350Z] is the ugliest piece of sh*t I have ever seen.
-You couldn't get me to ride in one of those if you put a gun to my head.
-The people at Nissan need to put the joints down for a few minutes, and quit sucking on the glass **** for a day and design a new Z car. (!)

Whatever...

I like the looks of the new 350Z. Not at first, I'll grant you that. But it kind of grew on me the more I studied it. I think there is *something* about it I don't like, but I really can't seem to verbalize it... No matter what it ends up looking like, I can't wait for a test-drive. Peace, and happy motoring.

I like the way it looks, and with RWD, a nice 6 spd, independant suspension and around 275ish HP, it should be a very fun car. It's not a supercar, but it's not supposed to be either...

Clever...I think when Sleeper was refering to the "harsh" comment that you made, he was talking about how you directed it towards a fellow member of Maxima.org. You see, I refrained from making comments about your car and commented on something that nobody on this board has. I am just going on an ASSUMPTION here, but I think that nobody at Nissan really gives a f*ck what I think and for you to respond in the manner that you did was just arrogant.

I think the car's nice, strongly object to the interior though; love the aztec yellow color.

A few of my 300Z fanatic friends took a day off from work and drove all the way from San Jose to L.A. a few weekes ago just to check out the preview -- and then drove back on the same day to go back to work the next day --

Anyway, they seem to like it --
ONe guy asked about how quickly it would be to take it from 260 to 300+ horsepower -- A Nissan engineer said it would take about 5 minutes ... probably an ECU change but didn't get into specifics -- My guess is they will use the same engine for both Japan, US, and Europe market but will leave it easily tunable for the latter two markets since Japan is limited to 276HP...

It should be no problem for a stock 3.5L VQ engine to get 260HP since the 3.0 version makes almost 230 with no mods --

Start modding and 300HP is well within reach --

And the guys said that Nissan will make a turbo version of the same engine too ---

Am I a candidate for the title "Maxima Heretic" now? To ALL my maxima.org brethren: I apologize for the disruption, and I pledge to avoid this behavior in the future.

As far as CustomMax refraining from making comments about my car: I hereby yield the moral high ground, based on his demonstration of exquisite and merciful self-control. I am humbled by his reply.

Which brings me to my last point: My apparent arrogance. I would like to assure you am not arrogant: It's a lot easier to be perceived as such on this forum, however, because we interact with hundreds of faceless, anonymous people, few of whom we are ever likely to meet. A poorly phrased point here, a careless word there, and: BOOM! Instant angst. Once the genie is out of the bottle... Well, damage was done.

CustomMax, I apologize to you for my comment and I do look forward to interacting with you on this board in the future in a more positive, constructive way. My compliments to you and your Maxima.

I still like the new 350Z...
