The service engine light came on in my 97' Maxima I got it checked and the code said that it needed a new O2 sensor. Now after getting it checked the light isn't on anymore. It still works because it comes on when I start it but doesn't stay on anymore. Now should I still get it checked out again????

 

It's up to you. You probably reset the check engine light and it hasn't come back on again. Where O2 sensors are concerned, many people reset the CEL and see if it comes back before immediately shelling out the $$$ on a new sensor.

How do you reset the CEL? And, just to make sure, thats what keeps track of the errors in the computer, correct? What does CEL stand for?
