flushing out radiator (haynes manual way)

has anyone done it this way using what is printed in the haynes manual?? Im asking b/c i want to replace my thermostat, and flush out the radiator, and then put some new nissan coolant and, redline water wetter.

i think i can get the thermostat out w/out taking the belts off, but i was just curious if anyone had used the haynes method, as it seems to be pretty good.

thanks
Cris

It is really the only way to drain it, other than actually disconnecting the lower radiator hose.....

well according to haynes u drain the radiator, and the block (im not removing the block plus). Then you remove the thermostat and replace the hose. AFter that you remove the upper radiator hose at the radiator and start to poor water in the top of th radiator, and let it circulate thru the whole sytem. It seems as though it will work, but i was just curious if anyone had already done it.

thanks

Jack up car

I was thinking about doing this, but in order to collect all the fluid i would have some large buckets standing by. If I jack up the car or put it on ramps to fit a bucket under it, will it prevent all the fluid from completely draining?
