90,000 miles on a set of brakes?
Depends on use
If the car was driven up and down the streets of, say, San Francisco for all it's life, the brakes would be short-lived. Conversely, if it's mostly freeway miles, they may last 200K. My fronts were getting down enough to replace them at 90K. The rears still looked fine, but they may have been replaced as I'm not the original owner. But I suspect the rears last a lot longer than the fronts as the fronts take most of the braking load.
Also, some people seem to use brakes much more often than they need to. Those who closely follow the car in front often have to brake a lot to keep from hitting. And many people seem to hit the brakes on every turn, no matter how gentle it is.

Wow, thanks for the responses guys--I kind of inherited a 96 Maxima to sell and the records never showed a brake change. I thought it must have just been misplaced or something, but apparently not. (It is a 5-sp too).
Hard to believe pads could last that long.
If I were to do a full brake job (rotors and pads), how much should it run at a reasonable dealership?
(sorry for the newbie questions)
