Me and my 5 year old son are leaving to Orlando Florida from NJ. The boy want to see Mickey. I changed the oil and cleaned and recharged the cone filter. Do you have any other advice before we go? I figured 1000 miles each way and anothe r 500 in Florida.

have fun!

check all fluids and make sure they're topped off. if the car runs fine now it'll be ok for the trip. Make sure the tires have good tread (lincoln penny upside down trick. if the treads below the head theyre bad, if his head is covered, theyre ok). make sure you have jumper cables and a flash light in the car. perhaps a small first aid kit. throw some gallsons of water in the car (in case u get thirsty or the car magically loses coolent and needs to be filled to get to a station). not much else to worry about that i can think of.

it wouldnt hurt to do a standard tune-up if your close to your time...Other than that...i dunno, enjoy the ride, cuz it sucks...took the same trip last year (from hernando country to new york)

Good luck, have a safe trip and enjoy disney world!!!

Good luck on your trip, its a long drive.

The only thing I could recommend would be make sure your tires are balanced, have been rotated since your last oil change, and make sure you have a medical kit. Wouldn't want anything to happen and not be prepared.

The tires are like new, they have about 1500 miles on them, tune up was done not too ling ago, new plugs new synthetis trans fluid, always a mobile 1 oil filter and synthetic oil. I think Im ready, but the medical kit and **** load of water is a good idea.Thanks...I m leaving on friday morning...

Good luck on your trip - I would borrow a radar detector for trips like that (luckily for me, I already have a V1), also- if you do get a hold of one; they are illegal in Virginia and you can get ticketed for having one.

Have fun in florida, drive safe.

make sure you remember to bring some music along. I took a trip from S Fl to New Orleans and didnt have any music!!! At the time i had my stock HU in which radio was broken and i was so bored i almost drove myself into a farmers orange grove. Have something to keep your kid occupied, last thing you want is having some one crying out "are we there yet" for 2500 mils. Other than that you seem good to go, oh and make sure your AC works well cause its hot as Hell here in the south.

Only entertainment my parents gave me was a coloring book and a couple of hot wheels cars. 99blackmax, sounds like you're good to go, bring me back a pair of mouse ears.

Blankets and pillows in the trunk.

'Cause that's where you're going to want to put that 5 year old after 1000 miles.....

Sounds like your all good to go. I'm making a similar trip(albeit, slightly shorter) here in about 45 min. I'm driving from Charlotte to Tampa. A nice 8 1/2- 9hrs or so. Should be interesting. Anyways, good luck on your trip, and be safe.
