Might be getting a manual

My current '95 Autotragic tranny is starting to go bad. Called down to the nissan dealership. They just got in a 1999 GLE manual 48k miles. With Bose, leather, moonroof, spoiler, the works. Color is silver. I dunno the price yet, but I'm going to check it out over my lunch break. I finally might be able to get my 5-speed! Anyways, are there any major differences between the 95 and 99 that I should know about? Also, can you guys give me a price that you think it should be around. Thanks for all the help.

I heard '99 is the bad year..that some mods don't fit and stuff. But other than that, you can red/clear your tails, and youhave the better bumper styles...

GLE models do not come with manual trans.

99 models come in either cali-spec or fed-spec. cali spec needs different y pipe. it also has 3 or 4 o2 sensors

I'd recommend taking it to an independent mechanic if possible (monitarily and time-wise), since I don't think I could trust a dealership on their inspection if I couldn't trust their knowledge of trim levels if they really called it a 5-speed GLE.

There's the emissions issues with cali-spec in 99 that are more prevalent I believe. Other than that it seems that there haven't been many diff bearing failures in manual 99s, so that's a plus (as opposed to say, 95-97). It was kind of the half-year model so there's some other slight differences that you can read up on...which prolly wouldn't effect you unless you had specific modification plans, etc.

Just got back from checking it out. REALLY nice car. Looks very well taken care of. It is an SE (not a GLE, like the first guy said). The first guy I talked to was a complete moron, so I went back to my normal nissan guy. I might go back and get it tonight, unless i'm convinced otherwise between now and then.

99's were notorious for having bad ignition coils... I just replaced the coil in my friend's 99 SE.
