So many of us get an annoying vibration at highway speeds. 99% of the time it's the balancing of your front wheels. Ever since I rotated my tires I've had a slight vibration at 75 - 80 MPH. So today on the way home from the gym I stopped at my tire and wheel guy.

Here's what they were off by.

Drivers side:
Outside .75 oz
Inside 0.00

Passenger side:
Outside .5 oz
Inside .5 oz

$16 bucks later my A2's are as smooth as glass at any speed!

Yep, as the tires wear the balance gets off. I am at about the half way point on my tread life and I get a slight vibration at highway speeds, will get them rebalanced next oil change.

Buy your rubber at Discount Tire, and they'll balance, rotate, and if need be, patch them for free forever.

are you sure it was just balance and not the alignment?

50$ is rape.

mom and pop tire shops charge 5-10$ per wheel for balance.

some places also sell balance and rotation packages for 100 or so, and you can come in every day to get the tires balanced if you want. they have similar "packages" for lifetime allignments.

Had the same problem which went away once I got my wheels balanced. Just cleaned my throttle body yesterday and it did make a difference. It is smooth now...

how about this. I put on my summer stuff, and just last week I had everything balanced because I had lots of vibration. So the wheels are still vibrating. I am trying to get another appointment (it had better be free this time) for this weekend. Feh. We'll see. I'm afraid I'm going to get carpal tunnel from the vibrations!

(that was a joke)

Tom, you back on H&R's yet?

Erica I don't know what to do. My car rides so nice right now I really don't want to drop it with the AGX's in there. H&R+AGX=Bounce on small road imperfections.

I'm very tempted to throw Tokico's in the front (if I drop it) so I get a smoother ride with the H&R springs. But I'm as to what to do this summer. My 17" tires are like 70% used and their pretty harsh now on the road, don't want to put them back on. So that would mean tires+Toks.

Plus were looking around for a new house this year so $$$ is tight. Have to set my priorities ya know. We just put rubber on the BMW, that was a pretty penny. I think Max may take a back seat on performance this year and just be my cruiser.

wow, that's a good scenario. I went to mavis to "balance" my tires...after that they were still vibrating if not more. So 2weeks later i went to STS wheel/tire place...the guy said they made my wheels so unbalanced it could shake my kidney...my fronts were something like
1.25
1.00

NEVER GO TO MAVIS to get your **** balanced...especially for aluminum wheels. They put static weights, not magnetic. just a word of caution.
