Very nice calipers! Was it hard to paint the calipers? How long does it take to dry?

You can also get the caliper paint on eBay. http://search.ebaymotors.com/search/...aytag1=ebayreg $34.50

I think any hi-temp engine paint will work just fine. The key here is prep work....remove all rust and clean....clean... clean! I don't see the need to spend $40-$50 for special caliper paint. Prep work before painting is most important.

I use high temp engine primer, paint and clear coat. Looks and lasts great.

I always make this a two day job. I take the calipers and bracket off the car, either strip the seals (for a rebuild) or mask them off and paint them off the car. I let them sit overnight and replace them the next day.

This also allows a ton of time to replace rotors and/or brake lines if you'd like.

Buy caliper paint from pep boys or autozone, 4 bux a spray bottle, do 3 -4 coats, it very easy, if you overspray or dont prep welll, comes off rotors w/ paint thinner, job can be done withtin an hour or 2 depeneding on your speed

I used testors gloss black model paint on the calipers of my '94 rx7. I did them about a year ago and it's holding up beautifully. nice, shiney, gloss black, plus I had a coupon for 40% off at Michaels, so it was only about a buck fifty for a can of it!!! But regardless of what you decide to get, don't waste your money on something that's ten times the price.

Is it better to paint the whole thing, back of shims and pads and all? Or just take it appart and paint the two major pieces?

Thanks - Chad

Folia Tec
G2 Brake system
Are both very good and have lifetime warranty from cracking and peeling.
I saw at the store they now have out dupli color caliper paint, it's a bit cheaper but its meant for calipers so it should hold up well.

Indecisive311:You can just paint the portion seen if your doing it with a spray can.But with the fol/g2 system you get more than enough to cover the whole caliper 2/3times and well the paint goes to waste as it only has 5hr application time. If you have time and patience go for all of it cure time for the G2 is 1 full day though.

DO they make silver paint in this duplicolor hi temp ceramic enamel? Where can you buy it. I got some black caliper paint at however I do not want to paint my calipers black anymore. Is there any specific hi heat primer that should be used.

i bought some stuff at autozone that's worked great so far. there's a gray paint you use as your base (can't remember the proper term for it). i then sprayed on multiple coats of a shiny blue coating that really looks good. it's not just a dull colored paint. it has a nice, glossy finish to it. i'll try to find the bottles left over in the garage and get you a name. autozone hasn't had it that long, so you could just go in and ask.

Also do you need high temp primer or will regualr primer work. The kind I have says not to use it if temps are going to go above 200 degrees and brakes are one area of the car that I don't want to screw around with.
