I just purchased a 96 Maxima GXE 5 spd. and noticed I don't have the fog lights like the SE and the GLE's... so I was wondering if it's possible to mount some stock fog lights from a nissan dealer ??.... and if so how much would they be ??...
another question I had is why are the 97 and up maxima's slower than the 95-65 maxima's ?? wierd ....
thanx in advanced ...

Yes you can. I just ordered mine today from courtesyparts.com or sales@courtesyparts.com. For a '97 Maxima GLE he quoted me $165 plus $9 shipping to Atlanta from Texas. I'm told my car is pre-wired for fog lights and I just have to cut the bumper, mount and plug in. We shall see.

This topic comes up like twice every week. I believe that the 5 speed GXE is the base model, and unless you have the auto, leather or the sunroof options (as per the installation manual for the foglights) the base model doesn'yt come prewired. The higher optioned GXEs and all of the GLEs are though. I think its the same thing for intermittent wipers.

Hmmm, that's weird, I got my a set of fogs, unfortunatelly they were cracked so I had to send them back. But I did install the factory switch, and there was an extra wire for the fog light switch, so.........if there is that wire, is my car prewired for them? I have a 96 GXE 5 speed, no options. I also already put the relay in, I am just waiting for the lights before I cut the bumper.

How hard would it be to wire them up, has anyone actually done it?

My 98 GXE was prewired for them...maybe you weren't looking hard enough for the plugs... I have done other installs on GXE's I have not found a non pre-wired one yet... and mine is base... 5 spd etcc.... Well....errr it was base...

That is good too hear, I would think it would be pointless for Nissan to pre-wire the switch, the relay box, and not run the wires to the bumper.

Try taking off the undercarriage protector(its on with like three screws) and look up into the area where the fog lights are going to go. Nissan taped up the wiring with gray tape. If its there more power to you, but the installation manual says that the base models didn't come prewired. I'll see if I can scan the instructions, the line that I am talking about is on the top of page one. NOTE: This was for the '95-'96 fog light kits.

I don't have power seats, but I know the wires for them are there, does that make a difference? Is anyone certain that some models don't have the fog light wires? Like I said, why would Nissan put the wire for the switch, relay, but not the lights itself
