** My Valentine Install - Finally pics inside **

People have asked me a million times for pics of how I have my V1 installed in my car...and I always fake jacks about "oh yea I'll do it tonight" and all that. Well I finally did it. Here are the pics...

Here is how I have the remote display mounted...

Here is the V1 mouted up by the mirror. The wire is run along the top of the window and down the pillar. Notice that the windshield tint blocks the front of it. This probably ruins the laser detection...but laser detection is almost worthless anyway. I've been caught twice with laser and both times my old Bel worked perfectly...it sounded as soon as they got me. The tint doesn't interfere with the radar detection and having it mounted this high up helps it "see" over hills better. Notice also that the unit is dark because the remote display is connected...cops cann't see it out the back.

Here you can see that the detector is pretty much invisible from outside. If I take the remote display down (it's just velcroed there) you can't even see it from beside the car hardly.

How do you have the V1 stuck up there? Can I see a close up pic? I couldn't figure out how to get it to stay up there.

Thanks

I'll try to take a pic tommorrow, but you just mount it with the suction cup holder that came with it. I didn't think it would fit at first, but my buddy insisted I try it and it fit. You can just cup it to the glass above the mirror. There's even enough room to press the thing down on top so you can take it out and adjust it.

I have mine mounted in the same place. . . But without the remote viewer. I like it except the only thing is I can't put down the visor without knocking it from being straight and having to reposition it again in the suction cup holder.

BTW, do you get a lot of laser falses? I know that when the sun hit the front windshield just right it falses all the time. I think it has something to do with the sun hitting the tint.

Interesting...good way to conceal it. I'm just interested in seeing how you have it attached up-close.

mine is mounted high (Escort Passport 8500) like right below the rear view mirror. Why are u trying to hide your radar detector? its not illegal in the United STates except in Virginia.

The best theft protection is to take it down every time you get out of the car! I do it, and yets its a PIA some times, but I love my V1 and would be heart broken if it was stolen. I usually slip it in my back pocket and cary it like a wallet. I also do it with my radio face. Oh and lets not forget the Lawman clutch lock and the sun shade in the front window. Its quite a process to get in and out of my car, but its better than getting it or somthing stolen!

I have my unit and remote display in the same place. It's nice, and virtually impossible to see from outside the car.

The mounting mechanism on the V1 sucks! (See passport 8500 for an example of a good one). So I'd rather not mess with having to take it down every time I park the car.

Also, by having your detector hidden out of view, it reduces your chances of getting a ticket if you're ever pulled over.
