my 98 is about back together. i knew the 4th gen owners have had some knock sensor issues. considering mine has 112k, should i go ahead and replace mine? also, i have had plenty of bad "symptoms" before it was apart to warrant a possible bad knock sensor. anyhoo, lemme know please. thank you!

 

I am in exactly the same boat as you , have a 98 max with 120k clicks, and I just replaced my knock sensor along with 02, and have noticed a slight improvement in my gas mileage, but that's about it. If your service engine soon light isn't on, i wouldn't replace them yet, especially the knock sensor which is VERY expensive, over 300$ Canadian installed here anyways at the dealer. Hope this helps..

 

yeah, the price is why i'm hesitant on replacing it if it's not necessarily needed. however, i don't wanna worry about the hassle afterwards also. not to mention, i don't feel like still having a rough idle once the max is running
