MEVI hp gains

i know people say MEVI helps top end, but that is all i really hear about it. how much hp does it actually gain? or does it just take hp from one point of the powerband and move it to another. and is it compatable w/n20

It essentially loses some hp in the midrange, and adds quite a bit at the top end. To understand the hp gain you really have to understand the hp equation: Horsepower = (Torque*Rpm)/5252

Thus the more torque you gain at high rpms, the more horsepower you gain.
and is it compatable w/n20
You will gain a lot more power from nitrous than a VI, but the VI will always be there. You'll gain even more with nitrous and a VI

Disclaimer:
This is, however, with the MEVI turned off and with it turned on - not the USIM and the VI.

The rated 190hp is at the flywheel. All dynos you see listed are in wheel hp.

Wheel Dynos measure only at the wheel. This is when I had an intake, and that's it, besides the MEVI.

My Dyno now is:

yeah - it's especially bad-azz if you have a Twin Turbo.

ugh

I always think a MEVI would be a great add on because so much power is lost above 5500...but then I look at the actual numbers and it seems so not worth the $ unless you can mod your rev limiter (95-96 ecu only) or are boosted (way more $). The VI alone just doesn't seem worth it...But I'm sure other people feel different. Just voicing my opinion =)

poor kid. you know the bad thing is, it must have been 6 months ago when his TT post got pinned. But in his defense you "can" do a twin turbo on a max, but why?

I was the first NA Maxima with the MEVI back in the day.

I know I'm biased, but I felt the power increase immediately, and I never regretted it for a second. Makes the drivability of the car (especially on the freeway) 100x better.

After 28 Dyno runs, I have found that 5000 RPM is the best switchover point. SOme people disagree and use 5200RPM....test aorund and see what works for you.

As for N20, I don't know - don't have it.
