brand x mid-pipe on ebay, hows it compare to frankencar?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=10368

I know its just a picture, but the price is cheap for a midpipe and since I already have a pop-charger, should I go for this? Does anyone think it's going to be rediculously cheap? I'm not sure how much different it is from the frankencar pipe (which is more than twice as much money).

It is the same, and even the same as the one you make, all serve the same function.

all you'll be paying for in a Frankencar is the name(as with most products), thats it! I made mine, and it works and serves the same exact purpose..

Does the pipe increase the power over just a popcharger on the maf?

I wouldn't think so, it may create a little more vaccum like a straw. The thin black box is not restrictive as far as the size of the openings is concerned. The vaccum lines may cause the air to redirect a little but I wouldn't think that it would cause any noticable decrease in power, you really just have to open it to see what I mean.

I made my midpipe because it was fun and it gives me peace of mind that the intake is doing all it can.

That might work a little better than frankencar. It has a slight bend which should place it right in the middle of the airbox or where the airbox used to be. The frankencar and any other straight midpipe tends to put the filter closer to the battery. This flexes the rubber coupler on the TB. Nothing that decreases power but just cosmetically this one should look straighter.

ok i HATE to bring this up again, but do we loose power in any part of the power band with the midpipe n filter? does anyone have a dyno comparing stock to JUST midpipe and filter?? i REALLY would like to see that just the midpipe and filter no other mods vs. stock....

Same here. I gave up on buying any intake since I didn't want to put money down on losing low end power, especially since the car is driven in at least 60% city driving.

This says yes

Dyno plots-

Before:
http://www.frankencar.com/product_i...o_before_lg.jpg

After:
http://www.frankencar.com/product_i...no_after_lg.jpg

Print them out, put one over the other and hold them up to the light, you will see the short ram/ hybrid loses power until 4800rpm.

Yes but you race in the upper RPM range. I would be interested in dyno's of before and after with the thin black box and popcharger and midpipe and popcharger. I may just switch back to the thin black box.

do you lose more low end with the mid pipe and pop charger than if you only had a pop charger? because i have a stillen intake and i dont want to get a mid pipe if it means i lose more low end power.

No you shouldnt, if anything you should gain alittle bit back on the low end.

That's the one I have, just put a vacuum cap over the extra outlet. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=134633

The one on ebay looks slightly different than the old RVM racing one but it is from RVM racing dohccivicna1250 = RVM Racing. There have been some problems with the RVM Under Drive Pulleys but an intake tube is so simple I don't see how anyone can screw it up.

Anyone know if this mid-pipe can be used with the stock airbox?

-or will it be too long to fit between the intake manifold and the MAF outlet?

(I have an OSCAI w/ stock airbox setup I'd like to keep in place, but want to get rid of my cheesy looking "$15 intake mod" plumbing coupler midpipe).

TIA,

-K-
