Budget Y-pipe, emissions?

I was thinking about purchasing a Budget Y-pipe soon, and I was wondering if it will pass emissions once it is installed. Also, is it going to be loud even though I'm using a stock exhaust?
Thanks in advance

It will make the exhaust a little louder but not nearly as loud as a muffler would. And if you let your car warm up for a while before emmsions testing you should pass. Since the pre-cats that the aftermarket Y-pipe removes are there to control emssions only when the car is cold. So once its warmed up they serve no purpose, so it would be just like testing with the stock Y-pipe.

Did they do the full ODB II test or just the sensor in the tail pipe test?

I dunno what your def'n of "ODB II TEST" but it wasn't simply
a tail-pipe test...if you can find info online, it was for the
ONTARIO DRIVE CLEAN program.

The OBD II (onboard diagnostics) test actually plugs in to the ECU port under the dash. They check out what the computer says the car is and has been doing and doesn't even mess with the tail pipe test. I'm pretty sure all 1997 models have OBD II. Pollution is bad here and they have mandated the more extensive test. Thanks for the feedback.

OK, fair enough.
I can tell you that where I live they test for the following:
HydroCarbon parts per million (ppm)
CarbonDioxide %
NitrousOxide ppm
Exhaust Gas Ventilation (EGR) system
Positive Crank Ventilation (PCV) system
Catalytic Converter
Fuel Evaporative System
Gas Cap pressure

and there are some more, but they were "N/A" on my test...one
of those IS an OBD Fault Code inspection...

In any case, with a Budget Y, I passed with flying colors!

That last one you mentioned sounds like the primary one they do here. The car's ECU has recorded every code that has been thrown and evaluates all of the emissions using the car's systems. The test you have done is primarily at a point in time (the actual test) and at one speed. Sounds like your car is still running clean after removal of the pre-cats! The air here in Atlanta is dirty due to the 3 million + cars here. I think we have the highest daily mileage per capita in the country, so our air stinks! We have 10-12 counties that have to do the stricter annual test. I'll see if I can find one of the local org members who has passed the test. Thanks for the help!
