Well.....I always said that if it should happen to me, I'd place a post that it did. Right side headlight connector fried....well not exactly fried, but melted. I put my stock headlights in and they work fine, however, the melted socket will go off every now and then. I have to wriggle it around for it come back on...sucks...I'll be on my way to the Manufacturer for a new socket monday. Glad I caught it before did any more damage.

Did you do any damage to the socket itself, or just the bulb? I put 80-100w bulbs in, and within 2 weeks one of the bulbs connections was totally black. I replaced the bulbs with normal wattage, and haven't had any problems since. It's interesting to read all of the people who say do/don't get a harness for overwattage bulbs

I think I have the same problem that you guys are experiencing. I have Eurolite 100/80 watt Hyper White bulbs in my 96 Maxima SE and a few days ago, I found out that my left headlamp did not work. I checked the bulb socket, and the wiring seems ok, but I think the bulb socket that connects to the bulb has some kind of "white" residue. It looks odd, cuz it looks like its broken or something, but it might be some kind of burning going on (due to the overwattage bulbs).

I put back the factory bulb on the headlamp that doesn't work, and it worked ONCE I WIGGLED the bulb socket wiring. It's definitely weird that it works now. So I put back the Hyper White bulb in the headlamp and it didn't work. But once I wiggled the bulb socket wiring, it worked. Should I immediately upgrade to the APC 100/80 Upgrade Wiring harness? Or is it too late for me to do this? What should I purchase if I'm having this bulb socket problem? Because obviously if I buy part directly from Nissan, its going to be a rip-off price!

Thanks for your input! Also, I plan to put the real Phillips 9004 HID aftermarket system on it, so would this "bulb wiring socket" have any problems with it? I hope not. And if I were to get this system, what type of xenon bulbs would I need? D2S? or D2R? thanks a bunch guys!

Also, 1 more thing to add when I had this problem. For some weird reason, when my left headlamp did not work, my instrumental cluster told me that i had my high beams on even tho. THEY WEREN'T ON! Even when I turn on the high beams, it will still say that. But once i wiggled the socket wiring, it fixes the problem (meaning that my left headlamp will light up). Anyone have any clue why this happens? Thanks!

I have been warning people, but most of you

just have a hard head. At least you are willing to post what happened to you. I bet most of people that fried their connectors never said a word.

Don't feel bad. Here's a list of people had their->

headlight connectors burned out. After all these people posted their experience, there are still people running stock wiring with 80w/100w headlight bulbs and believe it won't happen to them. It's only matter of time. You didn't believe me either. Look here for your old post.

xHypex: the bulb was fine, the socket was the problem. There was that white residue in there too. All i had to do was clean the bulb with cutips and a knapkin. To be quite honest I think the reason for the burning was me.....silly me....playing around with the high/low beams by running em simutaneously (did I spell that right?). Anyway it was no more than a week after this that the bulb actually went out....it was probably frying from the moment I began D*ck'n around wit em. All the same, I don't see myself running these puppies stock anymore. My only regret with the harness is Im told I'll probably loose some color with the greater light output. And the COLOR was the reason I loved this bulb so much. Im still waiting for a responce on that topic.

1Maxnv: I never said that i didn't believe you. (thats the only post I've placed about running the bulbs stock) I knew I was taking a chance when I ran these bulbs stock, but that was a chance I took on my own, and I let who ever asked about em know the same thing.

If you want to go with overwattage bulbs...get the harness. I'm not [expletive] around here...you WILL fry your connectors...maybe you haven't yet...but you WILL.

As for the HID kit...I'd advise against it. You'll lose highbeams and annoy the [expletive] out of other drivers. Stick with the overwattage bulbs...at least you'll still have your highbeams. But, just in case, the Maximas use the D2R bulb.

Yup,

I'm beginning to get the same thing with my overwattage bulbs.

maximaxgtr, I've got the exact same setup as you. My right headlight went out, and my highbeam light came on. I popped the hood, pushed the wires around and it popped back on, and the light went off. Looks like I'm gonna hafta get a harness =P
