5 spd oil and ecu code.
Hi all,
I've been a reader and Maxima owner for years, but just signed up to be able to post. I have a '97 Max SE 5spd that I bought brand spankin new in 97. It has 57K miles on it and its about time for some TLC. I'm getting the PCV and fuel filter changed and want to get the transmission oil changed at the same time. Should I use the Redline oil or just stick to the factory stuff? Are there any side effects from this? I read on another site that the guy who used Redline could see oil seeping past the seals, although no drip. If it will improve shifting I won't hesitate. Also I have an ECU error code, 0401 which matched up to a faulty "air intake temp sensor". Has anyone had this problem? I did re-oil the K&N filter this fall, wondering if I did not let it dry long enough. The car hasn't shown any drivability issues, should I get this changed as well? If I reset the computer and the problem is real, will the light come back on?
Thanks for the help, this site is the bomb!
For background my mods include Stillen intake, muffler, short shifter, FSTB and rear sway bar. The car is fully loaded with all options including winter package, leather, Bose, moonroof. I am really interested in the MEVI. Anybody know why they only released that in the middle east? Is it a really tricky and tempermental mod?

At your mileage you should have no problem converting to Redline MT-90. It shifts smoother and lasts longer than the OEM dino oil.

Thanks for that, do you know if I need to flush the tranny as the the oil will be different than whats in there now? Forgive the ignorance, I don't even know if you can flush a tranny or if it is a good idea.

. You'll need a ratchet wrench to get it loose. The drain plug looks like a 'normal' bolt, not like the engine oil pan plug. Search, and you'll find its location if you don't already know.
