Blowin' Mad Fuses Here

anyone know why my #13 fuse (meter) keeps blowing when i put my car in reverse? it's the fuse for my gauges, 1 out of every 5 times i put it in reverse my tach, speedo, and engine temp gauge all drop to zero and stay there. the car still runs but i already went through 7 10amp fuses. what the deal?
I'm under the impression that when this fuse blows the alternator stops working cuz if i drive for a while without replacing the fuse the car hesitates to start and the clock and cd player get real dim and eventually the car craps out. i even popped a 20a in there to see if that would stop it long enough to get the car to the thieves at nissan(who told me it was my alternator and replaced it which didn't fix a thing)and the 20 blew too.

i haven't done anything to the car accept for a y pipe i had put on 3 days before this all started happening. any input is appreciated

If you have an aftermarket cd player, then you might have switched your accessory power and power wire on your wiring. That is what happened to mine when I installed a new receiver. Check your wiring.

i do have an aftermarket head unit, but it's been in for almost a year and this all started like a week or 2 ago.

and yeah i upped the fuse from a 10(norm) to a 20 and it still blew. i finally got a CEL to come on(it's funny, i've never been relieved to get one before) so i'm gonna run the codes. i never did this before but since i have a 95(obd-1) i can just remove the plastic from the driver-side foot well and turn the dial and count the cel blinks right? i don't wanna go back to nissan ever again if i don't have to. i have the haynes manual.
