truck "Hydroplane" me = scratched front bumper + almost die!

i went to UC santa cruz to pick up my sister. on the way there it was rainning BIG. when i was passin hwy 17, i was very CAUTIOUSLY driving with 2 hands, seat-belt on, medium volume music. hwy17 is very curvy, and i was only goin 40mph behind an old-model civic who was goin about the same speed. i had at least 2-3 car lengths behind him. i was on the fast lane.

on the rite side there was this big truck, who happened to run over a puddle of water. he splashed on my front wheel... and i hydroplained! i hit the divider and immediately sway around on the road. the cars behind me all brake and waitin for me to sway back normally on the road. i first turn left to adjust my rear-end sway, then turn rite a bit to adjust my front... then i was back on the road safe, XCEPT WITH BIG FAT HIT ON MY FRONT LEFT BUMPER AND OTHER PARTS!!!!

damaged parts:
- front bumper scratched, bented
- euro clear corner scratched
- hood won't close properly
- front grill shifted to the rite
- driver's side headlight harmness
- all driver's side raybrigs corner, signal, side light
- when i turn on the "left-turn-signal" it hyperflash

sorry to hear your loss. when it's raining hard, i try not to take hwy, even though it takes double the time. too dangerous

wow its a good thing no one got hurt. i would be scared if i was in that situation. I try not to take the I95 or I75 when it rains. Mt tires are cheap and dont really stick to the ground when it rains. Im also sory about your loss, although overall dammage doesnt seem as harsh as it could have been.

Ouch, i'm sorry for your loss. Maybe you should check your local junkyards and hopefully can find a cheap front bumper. Probably cheapest way. Maybe invest in some Sumitomo HTR+ tires which should help you a lot on the highway

Well i have one good bit of news, your turn single only hyperflashes usually cause your blinkers bulb is out just replace it as long as the blinker itself isn't damaged.

bad news is the blinker itself is damaged. the diamond cut got smushed by the front bumper, u can see my left over pieces of my hyperwhite raybrigs sittin in the DC. i think i will have to replace the harmness as well... sh*et!

highway 17 is hella crazy. If its raining you really have to be careful... all those trucks, slope/curves can be dangerous. I'm glad you didn't get hurt. I hope youre damages won't cost you much
