Thinking of getting a MAX! (only have permit)

Well, im 15. ill get my car and liscese hopefullly in oct. I wanted to get a civic, or integra if i found one with a good price. BUt i kinda lost apeal to it, everyone has it... SO, i was thinking of some other jap car that will last long. I was thinking maxima. BUt i thought they have no performance. WEll, i just read up that they have over 200HP stock. My quistion is.. If i do get a MAX, can i do any modifications? IS there a intake for it? If i got a integra, i was going to spend 1000$ on intake/headers/exaust.

But why dont people hook up maximas more? U never really see a max hooked up, even though it looks 10X bettter with a body kit and some clear corners??

What is a good price for a used 99 v6 with about 50K miles?
And what mods should i do for performance and looks, for not too much $..?

thanks alot guys, i came here cause people at honda-tech.com were talkin smack about maximas being slow n crap..

There are tons of hooked up maxima's, they make everything for them from intakes to superchargers. I used to have a prelude v-tec, and honestly they arent that fast or cool. If I had a choice between a max, civic, or integra id definetly go for the max. Look through the forums to see all the mods and info or do a search, as for a 99 with 50k miles expect to pay between 11-14k depending on trim. Goodluck with your choice

Let's see, we have a N/A maxima that ran a 13.6. A boosted maxima that ran 11.9, how's that for slow. And quite a few mods, take a look around:

IF i intall a intake, Y-pipe, exaust, IS THERE ANTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? I MEAN, DO I NEED TO CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE IN TEH CAR/ENGINE?

i ask this, becuase it seems too good to be true... 1000$= almost 20HP gain

please explain like im retarted, becuase i need to learn!

so, i just order something from online, go to pep-boys. They install it from the box i bring them.... and WA-LAH....... u get 10 more HP

And check out the Dyno and Time Slips forums.....

The Max is far faster than an Integra and ESPECIALLY a Civic stock, and far more powerful and torquey.

The VQ Engine is one of the most reliable engines in the world, on top of that. (The main reason I bought a Max before I was even into modding)

baseer,
Props for looking beyond the norm. ALSO, for not acting like you already know everything.

Trust me, if your buds are all into civics and integras, you'll eat them alive with a stock max. I hope you don't plan on street racing tho. olice:

Just get a civic. They are much cheaper to mod and you can find parts really easy.

listen with $1000 this is what you do:
$50 clear corners
$20 clear out tails
$40 Front Strut Tower Bar
$130 Addco Rear sway bar
$200 Y pipe (best performance mod for the money, 10-20 wheel hp)
$150 Jim Wolf Technologies Pop Charger with Frankencar midpipe.(7-10hp)
$300 OBX cat back exhaust(7-12hp)
$150 Under drive pulley

If you can drive you will be able to hit mid 14s consistently and for the most part you will kick all your friends with civics and integras a$$es.

if you have questions hit me up on AIM.

Also dont be fu ckin racing on the street with your friends at 15 yrs old. You will kill someone. Go to the track.

But if you have only $1000 to mod, both cars being stock, then the Maxima will win by over 1 second in the 1/4 easily...and I'm being conservative saying that.

civics are so poor. I once raced a 97 civic coupe in my 96 altima GXE and that was too funny, I won the race but the funny part was his engine sound when he tried pushin that car really really hard! stock vs stock and I have auto!

My friend's cousin had a SOHC saturn, and he constantly talked **** to me about how he was faster and he even beats chevelles and novas and stuff. I finally raced him one time, and he hasnt spoke since then. Im also a stock automagic.

You guys are being rediculous...is the Maxima a fu ckin rocket if it can go 15s stock??? no. granted I HAVE beaten TCed civics before we dont need to bash um. Hondas are good cars too.
