I have KYB ADX and i cant really tell by reading what the best springs to go with the Shocks is? Can anybody tell me what they have and if they like them or recomend something that would give a nice drop and keep it near stock it doesnt have to be perfect though because im just looking for a nice drop to go with my 17"s

I like my combo for the price and performance.
I'm using Maxspeed springs with my KYB AGX struts and shocks.

They have a great ride and a minor drop. roughly 1.5 inches around. I have mine set to 2front/4rear with the cattman RSB installed. Works fine.

I'm also considering getting 17's this summer. Good luck with whichever you decide.

i have H&Rs w/my KYBs and i just adjusted the settings to 3 and 5 after i had them at 1 and 2. the ride is really nice and no complaints...the drop is really nice in the back and okay in the front...some days i wish i got sprints...i'd rather have her a** up higher than the front...

Go with Progress.. they give a nice drop without sacrificing ur fillings.. and let me know how they are cause im looking into this type of setup ...for my next mod... i know i know.. I shouldnt give a recomendation if I havnt tried it.. its like recommending a movie you havnt seen.. but im really picky when it comes to modding since its our money and ride thats on the line... but I find that the eibach, and H&R's dont really give that much of a drop.. and if you want it to look dropped then i would re-think the eibach and H&R's.. but for performance.. go the eibach's... but thats my 2 cents, also im not sure about the harshness of the progress spings ...

this may help if you havnt come across it already

I tottaly agree.. I say pick a spring that will suit ur needs.. if ur not sure get as much info on all of them based on what people who have used them say.. then once you finally choose one then do somemore research on that particular spring...if somewhere along the way you find its not for you then go with ur second choice.. etc... but the good news is that ur halfway there since shocks cost more... but Like I said I personally have chosen Progress springs since it does give a more noticable drop ( I'm not planning on getting it for another month.. still have to get my y-pipe).. but i still need to look into it further... if ur still not sure try hooking up with somebody with a drop to see if you like it.. a pic can only show so much... I saw some max's with H&R it did give an ok drop but I think its only noticable next to another max... it still looks high for my taste..

good luck
tooo many mods.. so little money

I've had this set-up for 9 months. I can say your setting on the AGXs make a big difference on ride quality & handling. Even in changing the front AGXs make a big diff. A 1 is good when you have a splitting headache and don't want your coconut shaken at all. 3 is very good when you really don't care about ride comfort but want good tight handling.

My current set-up is 3/5. I don't set it any stiffer b/c I have a wife/kids to carry around at times.

p.s. Most of the roads around where I live are in pretty good shape.

I had Maxspeed/Agx setup before I replaced with Sprint. The ride is alot rougher than Maxspeed but the drop is awesome. Check out my unfinished Homepage.

With the drop that progress gives, do you need to adjust the camber.. and will the camber bolts do the trick.. or is it not needed? what about the mounts.. do they need to be changed also? and finally will the progress clear 18's

sorry ShastaMcNasty for post whoring.. i figure since were discussing springs that i'd save people the hassle of responding twice in the near future...

I've had KYBs with my H&Rs for about a year now I believe... works great, ride is good, I can't stand anything more than 1/3 in settings myself, tho... otherwise I feel like a Honda riceboy.

Does it close the wheel gap good?

  • No need for camber bolts since the drop is only 1.7"/1.5" (f/r). I have no unusual tire wear over 50K km with this set-up;
  • I didn't change the mounts but did install a new set of strut/shock boots because the rear ones had cracked and everything was taken apart anyway;
  • as for clearing 18" rims, there'll be no problem so long as your outer dia. is close to oem. So long as your tire width isn't too wide, you should have no problems. Blaxxxima just had Progress springs installed and he's riding on 18" Mille Miglia EVO5s.

i went with eibach prokits and kyb agx's, should have a 2 inch gap over wheel, not radical but im going performance. im having a devil of a time seeing what extras i need and finding someone to do the work .. called nissan today about bearings and the guy got back on the phone with a long list of stuff he said i would need, the list included:
2 insulators
2 bearings
2 spring seats
2 rubber seats
2 spacers

then i was like whoa !! hold up a second, i dont think i need all that. for as i knew i was calling to find out how much nissan bearings and mounts were, and ran into all that .. as for as installation ..its been a joke around here .. one place quoted me 800 dollars, and most everyone else is in the 400 - 450 range, one guy said that his place would do it for 400 and they would need to keep the car 2 days ?? im like what tha ? So it looks like im going to end up going to the nissan dealership and have it done for 330 and then pay someone to align the car .. anyone know exactly what to ask for at parts ? concerning the oem bearings and strut mounts, or do you really need all that ?

living in a small town is much like the twilight zone. everyone knows it all, and spends most of their time on Clueless Street.

The places charge that much for shock installation? They shouldn't charge you any extra for the spring install. Changing a spring is no extra work once you have the shocks out. There's no way a place could charge that much.

Changing each rear side for me was $25 and I believe fronts are around $50-60 each side. And that only totals about $150-170. Even Midas doesn't charge that much.
