heres how an exhaust system for the Max goes...exhaust manifold, y pipe, cat, b pipe, muffler...for an effective system you need y pipe, b pipe, and muffler...some replace the cat with a straight pipe. but thats a NO NO!!!

Aftermarket Y-pipes are illegal, because the stock one containd two pre-cats. Also a b-pipe and a muffler is the same thing as a cat-back.

Thanks for your help, is a Y-pipe easy to put on or will a local muffler shop put it on even if it is illegal?

never heard a shop refuse to put a Y on, occasionally I hear of shops refusing to put straight pipes on and stuff like that
