I did have a 1992 GXE Max with the 100/80watt headlights in it and it burnt up my headlight connecter or socket if you will, has anyone had this problem with these type of lights in a 97. Beacuse I put some in my new 1997 Max SE but I don't want to leave them in there if it will do the same thing. everyone and anyone who has heard of or had this problem let me know. Thanks

I have a 97 as well, same wattage light bulb. They burn....it may not burn right then and there, it may not burn the next week, it may not burn 2 months from now, but eventually as the trends seems to be going....they burn. Do a search on the topic, you'll see a lot of people who have become victims of overwattage. It took my car 6 months.

I went to the dealership and baught a new headlight connector. Easy fix. Some people have reported worse stories though like fry'n the wiring from the socket on through, which in turn cost's somewhere in the uper hundreds to fix. To be honest though I don't see much truth in the damage being THAT extensive, I mean thats what fuse are for and they should blow before it even gets that bad. Either way you put it, it will always be a risk to run higher wattage bulbs on stock harnesses. Some people are willing to take this risk even after being burned. One guy says he just buys a new socket every time it happens. I don't know.....your call ultimately

I would definately get a harness. . . My 95's harness fried 2 days before I recieved my harness in the mail. . . I had ordered it 5 months before hand and kept getting emails saying that there was a new shipping date. . . You might get lucky about getting a harness as I just got mine about a week ago. . . I would try soon though.

Hey adida_boy, your listed car mods seem to include everything but those headlights there buddy....everything else stock hugh......just ragg'n on ya. Either way I KNOW those ain't stock bulbs, so in reply to your comment, was this picture taken before or after you got the harness? Which bulbs are you running?

The bulbs aren't the only thing I don't have listed. . . I am just waiting for my camera to get back from Circuit City, as the LCD screen died and I had to submit it for warrenty, anyways I will update the sig when that happens. . . I didn't think bulbs are that big of a mod, so I didn't list them. . .

Anyway. . . My bulbs are made by Sho-Wa, or something like that. . . I just went to the local performance shop and asked for better lights that had as little blue as possible. . . they are 100/80W bulbs and I like them even if I have never heard of the company. . . The picture was before I put the harness on. . . They got a little brighter after the harness, but not by much. The fogs are Hella 85W Yellowstars. . . Haven't had any problems with them.
