cut springs...

i know most people dont agree with cutting springs. so just ignore if your one of those. i just wanted to know whether i cut from the top coil or the bottom coil if i decide to cut the maxspeeds. still dont know if im gonna do it yet. ill decide after i see the drop. im thinking you cut from where the coils are farther apart right. cause you need the stiffest progressive part of the spring in tack so shocks dont bottom out. can someone confirm? thanks.

it would be best to cut off a dead coil (one thats close together)

BUT you have other alternatives...why not just get a different set of springs that give a lower drop?

you might find the ride a little bouncy with cut coils

With maxspeeds being as soft as they are, you're definately going to bottom out a lot if they are cut. Just don't say we didn't warn you.

Personally if I wanted to go lower, I'd either grab some sprints or some coilovers. I won't post my famous link for you, because I know you already know where it is after seeing it 50 times, hehe

lol..would setting my shocks to like 3/6 or more keep them from bottoming out.plus wont the bump stops prevent that.. i dont plan on cutting a whole coil..96shogunmax say when they are cut that much, the spring will come off the mount whenever u raise the up to change tire or oil/ect.. im a cut like 1/2 or 3/4 of 1 coil.. just to try to get it to like 1.7 1.8 ish drop..aha.go ahead and post your site..id feel left out if i didnt haev it on my thread too.

Fortunately it's already in my sig

But yea, he does have a point. I'd look for a spring that does exactly what you want and go for that, instead of trying to change what nature intended.

They'd still bottom out.... actually, it would be about the same as removing your springs and having it sit on the bumpstops. Riding on bumpstops is really really harsh and really bouncy.

Also, the spring can sometimes pop out when going over a big enough bump or dip, the spring will just pop complete off the side of the spring seat. It's not much fun.
