Has any tried, done or thought about putting a dual exhaust system on the 4th gen maxima like the 300zx has? Is that possible? How could I do that?

.

Also while this question is being ran, what about a 5th exhaust on a 4th gen? Or an exhaust similiar to the concept of that pressure valve which opens at variable rates depending on how much pressure is on it. I've heard a lot of maybe's and I think's, but I don't know if I've heard a definte answer on it, or personal experience from someone. Thanks.

Both have been done by guys here. Confused has a 5th gen muffler on a 4th gen, and fivelitrekiller has dual exhaust on his 4th gen.

i wouldnt do it. The 300ZX is V6 RWD. Has 1 exhasut running down left side and 1 running down right side. On the Max it goes down on the right. You get no power gains with this setup, you gain weight and you could save that money and spend it elsewhere. Plus you save yourself the embarassment if someone sees it and laughs at you.

I haven't had anyone laugh at my dual exhaust set-up! Most people seem to love it and I definitely don't feel embarassed...especially when I rev it up. It sounds like an Indy car, I love it.

Thanks buddy, that's exactly what I did. It's tint spray in a can. I just masked off a large area and went to town on them. It didn't take very long either and the final result looked good.

cheers,

You can't run true duals from a maxima ala 300z. True duals require equal length piping which is not really possible. You might be able to do a M3 style duals but they also terminate into one large muffler. But it more of a true dual than the conversions done the maximas I've seen here.

Duals on maximas are more for asthetics than anything else. As it's also done for the V6 accords and Acura tl.
