APEXI AFC is GREAT

I just installed the APEXI AFC in my 99 SE limited. Oh, it's great. There are not lean conditions in my broadband. The user graphics are great and the colors match my apline radio colors. I got it for $280 shipped. If anyone else would like to get on, just pm here or email me at phoneix42@hotmail.com I would like to know anyone elses opinion about the APEXI AFC controller if they have it installed.

My car is N/A for now. I have plans on going with the Stillen Supercharger or a custom turbo kit. I wanted to have a few things in place before I installed either one of these setups.

Did you install it yourself or did you have someone else do it? Was it an easy job? I was thinking of getting one as well.

I had it installed at a local shop for a few dollars. I seemed like an easy job, but I am not familar with the Maxima wiring yet. If want one let me know I can get them for you.

blackcat is not hard to install, is just time consuming, if your over 5ft 6inches you will be crammed in front of the seat by the ECU cutting wires and just connecting them properly. Been careful is the key so you dont short any wires.

If you come down to Seattle anytime soon, I can install it for you. It's a snap - took us 1 hour with the custom mount and all.

Haven't tuned mine yet....so I'm set at all 0's right now.

The look and usability are great - but I really wish it had more than 1 memory setting.

I'll probably be switching up to a Fields AFC one of these days...not as pretty, but far more functional.

You guys cut wires!?

I think I only cut one because that's part of the directions.

Ever heard of wiretaps!?!?

(Seriously, BlackCat, it takes 20 minutes to do the wiring and 40 for the install (maybe more depending on how you want to mount it)

96BLUMAX, you are in the D.C. area. I just posted a thread on a DC/VA/MD meet. Are you interested?

Thanks for the offer Ian! Not able to come down for the May 18th meet unfortunately. So from what you're saying its an ok product and that another brand is better functionally?

Yes.

The AFC is very pretty and works well if you only ever drive 1 style.

But if you want to be able to go to the edge of the fuel curve for the track, and back to semi-rich conditions for safety on the street, and then another setting for freeway runs....

Then you'll want the Fields.
