I always get 32-35mpg on chevron supreme too. But if you gonna get that kind of numbers, it needs to be strictly highway driving.

i have the same final drive 3.823 , i put in shorter gears, but 5th instead of shorter i made longer for lower rpm, mileage, etc.

turbo improve mileage? when you are not on it, yes. on interstate, normal driving, etc it reads vacuum but yet the turbo is helping = better mileage. i have gotten as low as single digit mileage when my car is "play-only" but on my recent long roadtrip i just cruised at 82 , without playing.. and no i did not retune or anything to get that mileage.

as far as writeup on gears? good lord, um no there is no writeup i know of, i can help provide some info if anyone is realllly interested in it, but let me just say its not near as cheap/easy as you think when you get into custom rear-end parts for our tranny... i had my tranny built (Cryo treated etc) and while i was in there figured id swap some gears... whew it turned out messy but beautiful in the end.

shorter gears (they are nOT a LOT shorter) do not help me normally, they hurt because of even more spin. but on slicks, ah it is a beautiful thing then.

and yes, auto 4th gen's do get better mileage stock.

driving about that speed limit to get that type of mileage is possible specially since he just changed his gear/s. I get 360 to 3/4 of a tank, hes got me beat by at least 90 miles. Of course I did not change my gears but thats good gas mileage. My speed was about 85 MPH on the freeway.

I've never made a trip long enough to go through a complete tank on the highway but I've gotten like 450 on a tank with like 85% highway 15% city driving. Normally (in the summer) I get 350ish to a tank, I run it pretty dry so I put in 16.5 gallons usually, so that works out to 21.2 MPG about 60% city 40% highway. FYI I've got a cut O2 sensor harness so I'm supposedly running full rich all the time.

you must have missed my earlier post "turbo+gear ratios? interstate @82mph" the mileage was from cruising at 82mph..

the whole tank was practically driven on the interstate, and with 521 miles on it i still was between 1/4 and 0 tick mark - i wish i had kept going just to see exactly how much i could have gotten from 1 tank haha , but you count your blessings when you come across a gas station in the middle of nowhere n.texas I think i was? somewhere out there

what does our tank hold?

I went 521miles on 14.86gallons - of course i guess pumps could fill a little more/less from station to station, but blah - no way to tell on that one.

jay25: your car is looking good!!

On my last trip (1734miles) I typically got 30mpg but on one tank I managed 34mpg but there was a good tail wind. All free way though.

I get low MPG for my car. Here's what I got for the last 4 fill-ups:
1) 205mi/10.624gal = 19.3 MPG
2) 145mi/6.465gal = 22.4 MPG
3) 229mi/15.923gal = 14.4 MPG
4) 230mi/13.372gal = 17.2 MPG

Currently I use 87 octane Mobil gas, but I'll try switching over to 91/93 octane (Yesterday at Mobil I only saw 87/89/93 octanes, no 91). If that gives me a better MPG then I'll be saving money. I was wondering what gas company you use, what octane level, and what MPG you guys get because I'll probably switch my octane level. My 4th gen auto gets crappy mileage =(

Your car is punishing you jatan for using 87 poison that is why, dont do that man its not good. Dont be cheap treat yer max right and it will take care of ya. And damn you, when I was back in cali we had no 93 octane only 91 poison. Thas why I hate cali sometimes.
